Before receiving the Torah, the Jewish people have to transition from a group of slaves to a functional society. This class will focus on the arrival of Yitro, Moshe's Gentile father in law who comes to visit the Jewish people, and how that helps shape the community that is to become ready for
commitment.

Meet the speaker
Michal Porath-Zibman
Michal has been teaching Torah both formally and informally for the past 2 decades. She teaches Tanach, Chassidut, and Jewish Thought in the classroom at Midreshet Moriah and Machon Maayan Seminaries in Israel, and regularly guides student and adult groups on journeys to Poland. In the summers she works on the Head Staff of CAMP HASC in Upstate New York. She lives with her husband and 3 children in Nevei Daniel, Israel.
