Amiel Ungar has a Bachelors degree from Yeshiva College and a Masters and a PhD from Columbia University, New York in political science. He made aliyah in 1978 and in 1979, Dr. Ungar and his wife moved to the town of Tekoa as the sixth family to take residence. He is currently on the governing board of Tekoa and had represented Tekoa on the Etzion Regional Council and the Yesha Council.
Dr. Ungar taught Political Science at Bar-Ilan and Ariel College for 25 years. He was a columnist for Nekuda (Hebrew) from 1988 until its absorption in Makor Rishon . Since then he has been the foreign policy columnist for Makor Rishon , the political columnist for BeSheva (Hebrew) contributed foreign policy pieces for International News Network and written Op Ed pieces for Yedidot Achronot , the Jerusalem Post and Emunah Magazine. Dr. Ungar has been a columnist for the Jerusalem Report since 1996 and is currently a monthly columnist for Ha'aretz English edition.
