Speaker Profile Dr. Chaviva Levin

Dr. Chaviva Levin teaches Jewish History at Yeshiva College, Yeshiva University. She earned her doctorate in Jewish studies and history at New York University and holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Yeshiva University. She is an alumna of the Wexner Graduate Fellowship program. Her research interests center on the experiences of Medieval Ashkenazic (Northern European) Jewry, on Medieval Jewish-Christian relations (particularly on the experiences of Jewish converts to Christianity) and on contemporary conversion to Judaism in North America. She is a member of the steering committee for the "Study of Religious Conversions" Group at the American Academy of Religion. In addition to giving papers at academic conferences, she has presented on topics related to the medieval Jewish experience to synagogue and other adult education audiences in the New York area and across the country.
