Dr. Anna Urowitz-Freudenstein is the Head of the Department of Jewish Thought at Tanenbaum CHAT, Wallenberg Campus.
Anna Urowitz-Freudenstein received both her Ph.D. in Midrash and her M.A. in Ancient Judaism from the Jewish Theological Seminary. Her doctoral dissertation was entitled, "An Investigation of Exegetical Methods in the Tannaitic Midrashim: A Study of Texts that Mention Individual Women". She has taught at JTS, Rutgers, and online for Gratz College and Hebrew College. She served for many years as the moderator for H-Judaic, a scholarly electronic forum, and was a contributor to The Torah: A Women's Commentary. She currently teaches at the Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto where she is the Head of the Department of Jewish Thought at the Wallenberg Campus and has taught adult education in various venues. Dr. Urowitz-Freudenstein lives in her hometown, Toronto, with her husband and three children.
