Professor Herb Basser currently (Winter 2004) teaches New Testament, Conversational Hebrew, Interpretation of Religion and the Gospel of Matthew at Queen's University. An ordained Rabbi, with many years experience as a Hillel Rabbi in Florida and Manitoba as well as a prison Chaplain in Ontario, he is the author of eight books and over a hundred major articles and reviews. He has delivered over 30 scholarly papers and many popular talks, the most recent at Harvard (2003): Coffee and Conversation with Herbert Basser. He has been a visiting professor at Hebrew University, University of California, Harvard University and University of Toronto and has taught full-time at Queen's since 1980. His major areas of expertise are in the history of Judaism and Christianity in the first century and Medieval Commentaries including al texts.
