Alan Jotkowitz, MD, is Professor of Medicine and Director of the Jakobovits Center for Jewish Medical Ethics, Associate Director for Academic Affairs of the Medical School for International Health and Medicine at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, and a Senior Physician at Soroka University Medical Center, all in Beersheva, Israel. He is a graduate of Yeshivat Har Etzion, Yeshiva University, and Yale University School of Medicine, and has published over 150 peer-reviewed manuscripts in the fields of Internal Medicine, Medical Ethics, Jewish Medical Ethics, and Jewish Thought in prestigious journals. He lectures and teaches widely on these topics and also leads a weekly gemara chaburah in his hometown of Bet Shemesh, where he lives with his wife, Dr. Debbie Jotkowitz; four children; one son in-law; and three grandchildren.
