Dan Butler has been a syndicated Weekly Columnist. A Securities Salesman. A College Professor. A retail store manager. And, a Regional Director for the National Conference of Synagogue Youth (NCSY).
He has been a Judicial Law Clerk, a Prosecutor, and a Family Court Hearing Officer. As a Family Court Mediator, he successfully settled over 1100 Custody Cases.
Dan just completed ten years as a judge of the Municipal Court of Pittsburgh. That Court has jurisdiction over all criminal matters initiated by the Pittsburgh Police, from traffic tickets to murder.
After ten years on Pittsburgh's specialized semi-weekly Domestic Violence Court, Dan's participation in national judicial Domestic Violence Seminars under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Justice earned him the approbation of the National Conference of Juvenile and Family Court Judges.
He has lectured around the country- on Legal Ethics for the California and Pennsylvania Bar Associations, on Support Collection Technique on behalf of the National Center for State Courts, on Collective Responsibility over a thousand times for the United Way and on Jewish Ethics at hundreds of NCSY conventions for teenagers around the country.
Dan has astounded audiences from coast to coast, in locations as varied as the Beverly Hilton, Radio City Music Hall, and the Vermont Legislature.
He is an active Board Member of almost a dozen charitable organizations and is Past Chairman of the Holocaust Commission of Greater Pittsburgh. Dan is an Executive Board member of the Orthodox Union and has spoken in dozens of cities as a Scholar In Residence on their behalf.
In recent years Dan and his wife Nina were consecutive Community Service Awardees of the United Jewish Federation of Pittsburgh.
