Mordechai Bar-Or attended Yeshivat har Etzion, and was ordained by Chief Rabbi Goren in 1984. Mr. Bar-Or received the Avi Chai prize for his work in establishing and directing Elul, the first Beit Midrash for secular and religious Israelis to study together. After the assassination of PM Yitzchak Rabin, Moti Bar-Or founded Kolot, a study center (Beit Midrash) aiming to educate an Israeli leadership that will advance Jewish values and create a meaningful Jewish mission for Israel. He serves as the government adviser on Jewish values and leads a new Jewish values initiative with President Shimon Peres, who personally studies with Mordechai.
