Aggadah doesn't just tell stories — it asks questions. Over four sessions, we'll look closely at some of the most searching narratives in the Talmud: the heroes of Masechet Taanit whose names we are never given, the troubling story of Elisha ben Avuya's departure from the world of Torah, the Talmud's own wrestling with the destruction of the Beit Hamikdash, and voices from the aggadah that cry out to God and wait for an answer. Each shiur stands on its own, but together they open up a profound rabbinic conversation about faith, loss, and what it means to keep asking.

Rabbanit Sally Mayer

Rabbanit Sally Mayer serves as Rosh Midrasha at Ohr Torah Stone’s Midreshet Lindenbaum, as well as teaching Talmud, Halacha, and Jewish Thought at the midrasha. She worked as an editor for the Koren translation of the Talmud. Before moving to Israel with her family, Rabbanit Mayer was a member of the core faculty that built Ma'ayanot Yeshiva High School for Girls in Teaneck, NJ, where she chaired the Talmud Department and directed Israel Guidance.  She has served as Education Director
