The Torah never calls the Ten Commandments “commandments.” A more accurate translation of the
Hebrew name aseret ha-devarim or aseret ha-dibberot is “the Decalogue” or “the Ten Statements.” In
this series of three shiurim, we will study the attempts of Jewish philosophers and Bible commentators
to transform three of these ten statements into mitzvot.
