A Listener's Guide to Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur Musaf (Part 1): As the chazan chants the Musaf Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur services, what should we in the seats be expecting to hear? Cantor Eric Freeman will discuss the melodic logic that our traditional chant provides to delineate and define each section. Included in the lectures will be explanations of the sections of Malchuyos, Zichronos and Shofaros (Rosh Hashana) as well as the Avodah service of Yom Kippur

Wending Our Way Through The Willows—Hoshana Rabbo and the Synthesis of Nusah Chant: As the Days of Awe draw to a close, Hoshana Rabbo ties together in one bunch the yearly Nusah (weekday, shabbos, Yom tov, Yamim Noraim). No other service of the year is as musically inclusive and complete. Cantor Eric Freeman

Cantor Eric S. Freeman is the Associate Director of the Philip and Sarah Belz School of Jewish Music, (RIETS, Yeshiva University) and the Executive Vice President of the Cantorial Council of America. From 2003-2024 he served as cantor of the Lincoln Park Jewish Center (Yonkers NY). Since 2024 he has officiated for several shabbatot, Pesah and Succot for Park East Synagogue (Upper East Side, Manhattan).
